State Pen

So I went to the old New Mexico State Penitentiary this past Sunday with a Flickr group. It snowed that day and a lot of people bailed – so there were only about a dozen of us that went. It was more and less than I expected. More texture, more interplay between light and dark, more odd angles and weird doors to nowhere. Less haunts, less vibrations, less goosebumps. The Pen is the site of the worst prison riot in US history – there is still evidence of that riot – although the place is also full of sets from movies that have been filmed there – it’s had to know if something is authentic or part of a set. If you go to my Flickr you’ll see more pics – the one above is one I just worked on today.
