Upcoming show!
The next show at The Wooden Cow is going to be awesome! Our theme is “The Art of the Shrine” and we have two featured artists – Francisco Bussetti and Monica Francisco DeKam. The opening reception is Feb. 6 which also happens to be the American Heart Association’s “Wear Red Day”. This event helps raise awareness about heart-related health issues in women. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America. Go to their website to get educated on reducing your risk of heart disease. So we will be participating in that as well. Anyone who wears red, donates money to the American Heart Association, or fills out a registration card for Go Red for Women will get entered into a raffle to win heart-related artwork.
And we will have tarot readings and a caricature artist on hand as well! Plus scrumptious food as always!

Downtown – between the bus stop and work – I’ve taken to wandering around there in the mornings before heading into work.

Oops, I missed a day
This Sunday we went to the Petroglyphs the volcanoes, and to the Open Space Visitors Center where we met three wolves from the Wanagi Wolf Fund – a local wolf rescue. It was a fabulous day! There are more pics of the wolves on my Flickr. One of the great things about living in Albuquerque is that you can actually be outside all year long – this winter has been particularly mild and we are taking advantage of that as much as possible.
The kiddos were troupers throughout the day and had a great time – here’s a few pics from the Petroglyphs. I had never been here before – we don’t venture to the Westside often and thought thet were cool – except for how close the housing developments are to them – wish I could have seen them 20 years ago.

We went to the Albuquerque Museum today and then strolled around Old Town. This image is digitally altered – the balustrade and portico are white in real life.

So the concept of defining the new year with a word had been around a while. I’ve never done it before but have decided to this year. And the word is…
Light!
Light, especially “good light” is something photogs are always looking for. If I can’t come up with a name for an image I call it “Good Light” And I need to “lighten up”, shake off the past year, release some old baggage and move forward. Let’s here it for light!

So I tried this a couple of years ago – but didn’t make it past March I think. Trying to take a pic a day for all of 2009. This is my first one – taken at the drive thru at Taco Bell

In the Neighborhood – Home
Our little family
Will and Grandma playing with sidewalk chalk.
Jumping on the bed
Will’s house
Aah home – while I’ve lived in many, many places – I have to say I’ve had few homes. Even as a kid – we had lots of houses, lots of neighborhoods, but few homes – few places where I felt totally comfortable and safe. I’ve been married twice before – and never felt that I had a home during either marriage – too much drama, too much stress. Neither the relationships themselves or the places we lived were ever “home” for me. Now, I am home – in Albuquerque, in this house, with the amazing family I’ve created with Chris. Bless our Home!! Love you, babe!
