Cutest Toddler in the World!!
11/26/2007 by Raine

I wish I could say I’ve been busy making art, but I’ve mostly been working and baby wrangling. I’ve done some “production” work – printing, matting, and packaging prints – in preparation for the three shows I have this week. Wednesday through Friday the Rio Grande Artisans are at the UNM Craft Fair, Friday evening (that’s right – I double-booked) I’m at the Factory on Fifth, and Sunday is our Holiday Trunk Show. And Saturday is my anniversary and Chris and I are going out with some friends.
This weekend has been sooooooooo long – I actually can’t wait to go back to work. I bought a 500 gb external hard drive and have been backing up non-stop! As of this moment I have backed up every photo (that was worth keeping) that I’ve ever taken. By this I mean I’ve got every image on two (TWO! – I’m only slightly paranoid about losing stuff) DVDs and the hard drive. I also now have a very tall stack of cds and dvds that are now obsolete. I am still slogging through a bunch of disks that have “altered” stuff on them. I have so many images duplicated on several disks!! It’s driving me a little bit crazy. Wow – this is a very boring post – sorry about that folks!

Las Vegas, NM

Las Vegas, NM is soooooo cool! Around every corner is a cool old building – from it’s mining town glory. Some are falling down, some have been completely renovated – but they’re all cool. These three buildings were on the same block!!

Outside Romeroville, NM

Found this awesome group of buildings outside of Romeroville, NM on Sunday. I was losing the light rather quickly, so didn’t stay long – but they were so awesome! More pics to come!

Veteran's Day is almost over
11/13/2007 by Raine

and I actually have a post that’s relevant! Yesterday we went to Fort Union just north of Las Vegas, NM and it was gorgeous and desolate all at the same time. I was supposed to go on a photohunt with my lovely Brit friend, Jeanne, but she had to back out that morning so we loaded up the kids and headed north to see what we could see. We ended up at Fort Union, which happened to be free because of Veteran’s Day (handy tip – national monument’s are free on Veteran’s Day). so we wandered through the ruins, checked out the interpretive center and had a lovely, but very windblown, time. Here are some pics.

Ghostly

Busy getting ready for the Trunk Show! I’m making some Xmas ornaments using my resin technique, maybe some little magnets if I can pull them off by Sunday. Printed a lot of new images also – in the middle of matting stuff right now (I should be working – not blogging!)

On Saturday night I went to a cemetery with a friend of mine. She and her family go every year around Halloween. It was a beautiful night – the moon is still so full and the weather was perfect. I took a few pics – was fighting with my camera a lot – I am still learning – night shots are hard!

If you’re local here are the details on the trunk show!

Enjoy the comfort of a private home, a sampling of appetizers and drinks, and
the ability to leisurely browse an amazing array of gifts and art made

Horseplay
10/29/2007 by Raine

I’ve had this image for over a year now – and finally decided to do something with it recently. It is two images squished (it’s a technical term) together in Photoshop. The most obvious image is the horse sculpture. The not so obvious image – the texture in the piece comes from a photograph I took of the floor of our shop before it was remodeled. The texture was too good to pass up!

Creature

This guy is from our trip to Washington in August. I changed memory cards on our second to last day and totally forgot about that for a while. Just discovered over 100 pics! There is an amazing sculpture garden in Port Angeles, WA. It is several acres of woods – with random sculptures everywhere. Very cool.

Late Nights

This is 3 different images that I took on my Colorado road trip. Reminds me of my younger, wilder, thinner days back in Seattle and Dallas.
