started kindergarten today.
Can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted. This month has been super crazy – mostly due to two shows at the Cow this month. I worked three weeks straight at one point. Will is starting school on Monday (gulp). And my hubby is starting school the week after that – life shows no sign of slowing down – and that’s ok – but I do need to carve out some time for myself.
This photo is of my dad when they were living in Joliet, Ill. There are ten million Klovers (or so it seems) living in Illinois and I am related to all of them. My great-grandfather Cornelius Klover moved there with his (he had 13 siblings I believe) family from Holland when he was a child. Part of the family folklore is that young Cornelius has his shoes sucked right off his feet as they were pushing their wagon through some mud on their journey from NYC (their point of entry) to Joliet. Their last name is Holland was Klaaver, but it became Klover when they came to America.

So busy I can barely see straight – who knew two jobs, two kids, one husband and a gallery could eat up my time so much. Today I went to job #1, then had a lunch date with an artist we are trying to set up a workshop with, then to job #2, then to the gallery for a new member orientation, then home, snuggle with children, then get on the computer to do more gallery work. Working on things just for me is HARD!
And I had a very sad moment today. I go to a little sandwich shop every time I’m at the gallery – (they have the best fresh-cooked chips ever!!) and I was chatting with one of the guys there – I see this dude a couple times a week – he’s very sweet and quirky and cool. I was talking with him about jobs we’ve had, school (he wants to be a graphic artist) and then I get a sinking feeling so I ask him how old he is. His answer – 18!! My response – OMG, I could be your mother!!
Yes, I’ve now hit the age where it is possible for me to be the mother of a full-fledged adult. This totally spooked me for some reason. I’d been thinking that he and I were contemporaries – but no – we’re actually different GENERATIONS!! I need to really internalize that I’m not 25 anymore!!
I know age is just a number and all that jazz – my friends vary widely in age – from 20-somethings to retirees. I am the youngest Cow at the gallery – although that’s something that doesn’t come up very often (unless they pick on me for not knowing some pop culture thing that I’m too young to remember). But I am getting older – like staring 40 in the face kind of older – maybe it’s time to grow up and figure out what I’m doing with my life.
Hmmmm, need to ponder this some more.
Peace
Had a little fun with this one!!!I was playing around with some new PS brushes and this is what came out of it! I call it “Boys just want to be (with) boys!” Dedicated to my brother-in-law and his partner.
