Six Things

The always-cool Paula Manning-Lewis of Chroma Studios Gallery tagged me – so I must rise to the occasion and find six things you probably don’t know about me.

the rules:link to the person who tagged you > post the rules on your blog > write six random things about yourself > tag six people at the end of your post and link to them > let each person know they’ve been tagged

1. I used to book bands for the Ballard Firehouse in Seattle – I actually got to go “scouting” and go to other clubs and look for “new talent” – it was a great way to meet guys and I got a lot of cool local music – some of which I still have

2. This past New Year’s Eve would have been my 10-year anniversary with my first husband. 2b. I’ve been married two more times since then.

3. I was a totally sickly child – asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, if it was lung-related I got it – I was so sickly I couldn’t participate in PE most of the time. When we moved from Louisiana to Washington State most of my health issues went away (a lot were allergy-related) and I became a track and cross-country athlete – and went to State all four years of high school.

4. I am adopted

5. I lived in Dallas for two years – two of the best and worst years of my life.

6.I used to have a snake – I used her as a test to see how cool dates were – love me, love my snake.

This was taken while waiting for my friends to pick me up last night – we went downtown to the Blackbird Buvette – cute little restaraunt/bar that’s right on Central.  We saw some interesting sights – including a sign that said “No puking, pissing, panhandling or pervision, thanks“, a mime hanging out a the bar, some unique art on the wall, and Breaking Bad being filmed across the street from us.  Add to that good music, good drinks and good friends and it was a very pleasant evening.

Let there be light!

So I finally am getting around to reading Twilight – there’s some strange ornery streak in me that doesn’t allow me to read a book, see a movie, listen to a band, etc. that is “superhot”. A friend of me handed me the book a couple of days ago and I took it and started reading it that same night.   It felt so good to have a book in my hands again. I read magazines, art books, online stuff.  But a “real” book – a novel – is well, novel, to me these days.  I used to be such a voracious reader – (my mom is a retired librarian) but life seems to have taken all of my reading time and shoved it into a corner I don’t have the strength to find. Now I want to read something “heavier” with awesome prose and deliciously complex narratives and fully realized characters – anyone have any suggestions?
