Gearing up for the next show at the Wooden Cow Gallery and Art Space- we are hanging tomorrow and the show is on December 5th. I’m so excited that my awesome friend Leighanna will have five pieces in the show!! Leighanna has been my mixed media guru since I moved to ABQ and through her “52 Weeks” project I really began to flex my creative muscle (and had my first show) – without her I would not be where I am today on my artistic and creative journey. And tomorrow she and I (and my hubby) are going to the Cooperage to see My Brightest Diamond – should be a great time!
The above image is my piece for our upcoming show – it’s theme is “What’s in the Box” and Regina is our featured artist. This image just came to me today and I call it “Don’t Box Me In”

Fall Day

boots
A boot shot for EmmaTree, these boots are new to me – I just got them from a friend who they are too small for – they’ve got some built-in character to them – I think I’m going to be living in them all fall and winter.

Living in the high desert can be weird sometimes. We went for a walk around the neighborhood looking for cool leaves and other natural bits and bobs that we then did some monoprinting with. It’s mid-November and we didn’t even have to wear jackets – and yet the trees are in various states of fall-like attitudes – some completely bare, some still holding onto their golden and rusty leaves. Our neighbor’s tree had apparently given up overnight and released it’s leaves all over their car!

I call this image “Universal Tree” as it seems like it could be anywhere in the world.

Sick and Broken Arm Katie
11/01/2008 by Raine

sickkatie
So my baby broke her arm on Tuesday – I wasn’t in the room with her – but I believe she was jumping on her bed and fell off. As always she was totally tough throughout the ordeal. Daddy and Big Brother were at the library so I consoled her as best I could until they got home. By the time they got home she was sitting on my lap calm as can be.(The fact that she was deigning to sit on my lap was all Chris needed to know something was wrong with her – my girl is not a cuddler – she’s usually too busy zooming from place to place).
On top of that she’s been sick this week – we thought she was over it – but today seems to be even worse than before – projectile vomiting and a lot of sleeping. I took this photo of her this morning – my little tough cookie!
