Gearing Up..

gear
for spring. It’s been so warm recently – in the 70s! The kids and I have been out every evening – them playing and me doing yardwork. It’s a good combination as I get to feel accomplished and they get to have some good outside time before going to bed.
Work is nuts – but good – I’m working on a really creative project right now and having a great time with it. I’m also working on a proposal for a story for a art-y magazine. It’s about my glass negative series. Having a hard time with it as I hate talking about myself (she’s writes without a hint of irony on her very “it’s all about me” blog), but I am muddling through.

I am also working on an amazing round robin with four friends – Joseph (he’s the very talented Sarah Fishburn‘s brother), Spring, Alison and Leau. We are doing altered books – each us of started with a book, decided on the theme, and worked on a few spreads. Last month we passed the books on to the next person in the circle and today we met again to show what we had created, and pass them on again. I have to say we really rocked these books out! I have known Leau and Alison for a few years and know their work well and love their styles and they are both in top form. Spring and Joseph are new friends and I am not as familiar with their work, but I love what I have seen so far. I have Joseph’s book now and his theme is “Sideshows”. His book is so fabulously, amazingly over-the-top – and HUGE!! I usually work small so I think that will be the biggest challenge for me. I have an idea for it – but will see if what’s in my head will successfully translate to the pages.

The gear is from my beloved railyard. The railyard is now closed up tight in preparation for the new Terminator movie that will be filming there. I’m sad about my lack of access – but very happy that the city will be generating some income from the filming, and the movie studio is also going to be doing some cleanup of the site.

Yo! Where you been??

Well, I’ve been here – in my usual little corner of the world and have either been too busy to post – or have had nothing to say when I do actually have a spare moment in front of my computer. My blog-reading has become almost non-existent and my blog-posting has obviously fallen by the wayside. Work is kicking my butt and babies are awesome as always – but exhausting me completely. I seriously crave a weekend with no work and no kids. Here’s a cute pic of the kiddos. Katie is craning her head out of her stroller to take a look at her crazy mom. Will is mugging for the camera as usual.
