Ghostly

Busy getting ready for the Trunk Show! I’m making some Xmas ornaments using my resin technique, maybe some little magnets if I can pull them off by Sunday. Printed a lot of new images also – in the middle of matting stuff right now (I should be working – not blogging!)

On Saturday night I went to a cemetery with a friend of mine. She and her family go every year around Halloween. It was a beautiful night – the moon is still so full and the weather was perfect. I took a few pics – was fighting with my camera a lot – I am still learning – night shots are hard!

If you’re local here are the details on the trunk show!

Horseplay

I’ve had this image for over a year now – and finally decided to do something with it recently. It is two images squished (it’s a technical term) together in Photoshop. The most obvious image is the horse sculpture. The not so obvious image – the texture in the piece comes from a photograph I took of the floor of our shop before it was remodeled. The texture was too good to pass up!

Creature

This guy is from our trip to Washington in August. I changed memory cards on our second to last day and totally forgot about that for a while. Just discovered over 100 pics! There is an amazing sculpture garden in Port Angeles, WA. It is several acres of woods – with random sculptures everywhere. Very cool.

Late Nights

This is 3 different images that I took on my Colorado road trip. Reminds me of my younger, wilder, thinner days back in Seattle and Dallas.

Going Digital

The other reason for going to Colorado was to attend a demo with the digital printmaking pioneer – Bonnie Lhotka. Laurie and I arrived at her studio on Sunday, checked out her amazing work, and then watched a pretty in depth demonstration on a very intriguing transfer process. It was very appealing – not sure I will ever utilize it – but it got my wheels spinning. There was also a sales guy there showcasing this gorgeous HP printer that she utilizes for this process. It only a couple of thousand dollars – but looks like it would be worth every penny. Contemplating buying “shares” of the printer with other people. I’ve always been an Epson girl – but I do love the large format HP printers we have at work. We just got a HP Photo 9000s earlier this year and it totally rocks! It can print to 60″ wide, prints amazingly fast, and has great color calibration. It’s a solvent printer – not an inkjet – so there is the whole toxic issue – but we have it ventilated well. And the price tag? $28,000.00!!! EEEK! The printer that HP guy had with him that Bonnie uses is a 48″, inkjet, and goes for about $4500.00. That is much more in reach than I thought it would be. Must think more on this.

Gorey DeTales

The last wall – somehow I forgot to take pics ofthe other two walls
Jen’s Piece – it rocks!!
Lynn Whipple’s piece – Batboy
Celine Navarro’s piece

So I’m finally am posting some pics from the Colorado trip. the slideshow belongs to my friend Leau. Here are a few pics from the Gorey exhibit. I’ll have a few more tomorrow hopefully. The show was AMAZING! Backtracking a little – one of the reason’s for my recent Colorado trip was to check out the Gorey Details show at the Artist’s Nook in Fort Collins. My Canuck friend, Jen, is one of the artists and I wanted to go see the show in person.
The show was put together by Sylvia Luna who assigned each artist a letter of the alphabet to work with. For more details check out this link.

Blogland

While I was in Colorado earlier this month I stayed with my friend Laurie’s lovely daughter, Nicole. Nicole has the soul of an artist, but hasn’t really even begun to fully explore her creative side. I told her I would give her some links to different artists’ blogs to get her creative juices flowing. Here’s the list – in no particular order:

Bridgette Guerzon-Mills
Celine Navarro
Jennifer Gordon
Karen Michel
Deryn Mentock
Jen Worden
Anahata Katkin
Paula Scott

Leau PhillipsRegina Portscheller
Michael De Meng
Judy
Pam Garrison
Leighanna Light
Tejae Floyd
Carla Sonheim
Michelle Ward
Ruth Rae
Judith Thibaut

These are all people who inspire me. Enjoy!
