Chris Update

So Chris seems to be doing a lot better. I think admitting that he needed help has made him feel a lot lighter. He also just started taking Paxil. The only thing he’s noticed since starting it is that he can’t sleep. He’s not edgy or anything – just stays awake. Although not awake enough to get out of bed and do something. Kind of weird – hopefully that goes away soon.

He has his second therapy session on Saturday. He also got a random call from the city’s Film Office. Apparently they got his resume somehow and want to talk to him. He’s doing that tomorrow.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped me through this dark time. I’ve kept it inside for sooooo long – just knowing that other people know is a huge weight off my shoulders. I know if I need to talk to someone I can.

Went to a cemetery in Bernalillo last weekend. Didn’t spend much time there as it was getting dark – but got some cool shots. This statue was behind glass – hence the tree reflection.

I’m getting some things crossed off my to-do list today. I’ll have four things going out in the mail tomorrow including – 2 swaps, an application for a fiber arts festival in ABQ, and the “save the date” magnets I made for my brother and his fiance. I also completed a 3 foot by 4 foot painting today. I need to repaint the edges black still – but it is hanging in the living room now – instead of hanging out in the laundry room. I’ve been adding layers to it while doing laundry for a couple of weeks now!!!

Still a long to do list

1. Order Moo cards
2. Make charms for Artfest
3. Make hotel reservations for Artfest
4. Make trading button for Artfest
5. cut CDs for workshop on Thursday
6. finish some more resin danglies to put in the gallery shop at OffCenter.
7. started thinking about brother’s invitations.
8. work on shrine
9. work on ATCs
10. work on 2 more tags for the month
11. work on website
12. see if I have enough time to make accordian book for Quilting Arts.

OK that seems like enough for now!

Bernalillo

I had never been to Bernalillo, NM until yesterday. And I like it so much I went back today. We hit the cemetery and then poked around to figure out where to go next time as it was beginning to get dark.
Here’s a few pics.

Tags for February!

Why yes Virginia – Raine has made some new art!

These are tags for my Las Semanas group project. The tag thing is really hard for me – I’m used to more dimensional stuff – or digital – this flat tag thing is weird for me. I think soon I’ll be making fabric tags – wire tags – but I’m trying to push myself so right now I’m sticking to the more basic tag format. And I think these are too cool! I’ve been trying to come up with a theme or concept for this year – and everything has fallen flat. Last year I did a different medium or technique every month. I’ve finally decided to NOT have a concept – and just do what I feel. This is new to me – I’m a very theme-y person – it feels like flying without a net. That can be a good thing sometimes.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post. Your kindness and generosity overwhelms me. I haven’t responded individually because I’m trying to not think about things. I’ve got “Miss Scarlett” syndrome – “I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow”. Chris has been on anti-anxiety medication since his ER visit – and it seems to have kicked in – he asked me to take his picture today and this is it. I layered it over some stained glass shards.

Friday Fiver

1. What’s the longest time you’ve spent standing? Good question – probably one of the many festivals I went to in Seattle. We’d be there all day and never sit down.

2. How many people on LJ (or your blog) know your real name? Not many – as Raine is not my actual legal name

3. What makes you afraid? pretty much everything – most particularly change – pretty weird for someone that has lived in 6 states in seven years, and been married 3 times in 8 years.  – I would have to say I take my fear of change and squish it into a little tiny ball – and then jump into the next adventure.

4. What’s the worst physical injury you’ve had? I don’t hurt myself very often – I sliced off part of my finger while giving a dinner party in Seattle. I didn’t go to the ER until the next day – and it was too late to get stitches.  So now I have a little scar that always makes me think of Stefan and the pretty, pretty life we had for a while.

5. What line won’t you cross? If someone says don’t cross this line – I usually take a running start and leap right over

Eeek!

Haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been in a down period – as far as art goes – been focusing on the kiddos. I have still been creating a digital image a day and posting them here and here. If you are interested in posting photography/digital images online I highly recommend www.photoblog.com. It’s still small (unlike Flickr) and I have met an amazing group of people from all over the world. Of the people I communicate the most with one lives in Kuala Lumpur, one in Mississippi, one in Mexico, and one in India. Quite a cross-section of humanity. It’s nice to get so many different perspectives and everyone is very positive – and are willing to offer real advice/comments. They inspire me -and I am also learning a lot about photography – and myself through this commitment to create an image a day.
