OMG – and even more art. I made these today out of hardware cloth, florist’s wire, and beads and charms. They’re smallish – fit on my pinky. I still need to make 19 more!! I think I’m going to make some for Artfest trades. I’m also going to be making some CD ATCs for trades. I’m going to start on those now – I think I’m going to be pulling an all-nighter tonight.

. This is the most intensive collaborative/swap project I’ve ever worked on. I got all freaked out by the very cool, terribly creative people that are involved and just psyched myself out for a while. I actually got this half done and then completely trashed it – and started down a different path.
I kept the same concept I was working with before that is “Unlock your….”

So here’s what involved:

1. My own photography
2. Photoshop (each page in completely unique in image and text/fonts)
3. Printed pages were washed and stamped with acrylic paint.
4. Pages mounted to watercolor paper for stability.
5. Eyelets added
6. Added patina to 10 million (at least it felt like it) small keys.
7. Threaded wire, fiber, window screening, fabric, and whatever else I could get my hands on through the eyelets – added doohickeys like washers, beads, the patina-ed keys, and various other things.

The backs are the same image in reverse with different text.

Not much to say recently. Chris has been unable to work because he messed up his knee last Sunday playing football. So he’s been home a lot – and we’ve been getting ready for his and the kids’ trip to West Virginia. They’re supposed to fly out tomorrow – but we’re also supposed to be getting a storm – so we’ll see what happens with that .
While they’re gone I plan on making lots of art, staying up all night, playing my music really loud, reading all the books I got for Christmas, and… I think that’s about it! Oh yeah – and going to work.

1. What did you eat yesterday? diet soda for breakfast (I’m not a breakfast girl), McDonald’s double cheeseburger for lunch, tortellini with chicken and italian sausage for dinner, popcorn for a snack – definitely not one of my better eating days!

2. Are you more likely to yell or give the silent treatment? depends on the situation – usually I yell and then give the silent treatment

3. Who did you last grieve? I grieved for Mike when we split up – Of course, I’ve realized since then I was grieving for a relationship that was never truly real – I was grieving for what I had hoped it would be.

4. What feels good today? Being with my babies before they leave for a whole week!

Aren’t these the cutest tights ever!!!! And I LOOOOVE Mary Janes – they’re the only shoes I wear besides tennis shoes and boots.

Will saw Katie’s feet and said “Dancing shoes!” How cute is that?

These are some of the bases for a collaborative book project I am working on. I am creating 20 pages. All the bases are similar in design to these. I have six completed and the rest are in various stages of doneness. I am adding acrylic paint, some stamping, eyelets with various objects threaded through the eyelets. All pages will have keys attached that I added patina to. So how many steps is that?

1- Photography
2 – Photoshop
3 – Print
4 – Add paint and stamping
5 – Mount to watercolor paper added heft
6 – Add eyelets
7 – Patinate keys
8 – Add found objects and keys to pages

This is the flier for my very first show! This is a group show, based around my friends and I who decided to create a piece a week for all of last year. Very exciting stuff – and I designed this flier – it’s still in progress – some of the images are just stand-ins as I wait for art from each person. We might add a little text from the gallery – but everything else is ready.

Ran around most of the day – after watching Seattle lose to Chicago . Will made me take his picture and this was his choice of pose. He has my eyebrows!

So I’ve decided to actually start using this blog again – solely for art. I have my LJ for my more personal/family stuff. We’ll see what happens!
